Job title: Exams Digital Content Manager
IR35 Status: Inside
Contract Length: 6 months
Location: UK wide
Role purpose
To lead on managing digital content for our Exams web estates and country pages, continually improving content and visualisation. The Digital Content Manager will also engage and work with partner bodies and organisations and regional Exams colleagues to improve their websites with relevant content. They will work closely with the wider Exams Marketing team to ensure alignment across Exams marketing globally as well as the broader marketing function.
Main accountabilities
Strategy and Planning
- Supports and facilitates content generation for Exams websites including design, development, testing and optimisation.
- Works closely with wider global Exams Marketing team and regional marketing teams to ensure our content is accurate, timely and relevant.
- Supports the ongoing development of our web presence through managing the continual development of sites for our Exams product portfolios.
- Ensures that appropriate support solutions are maintained and managed to support all Exams focused digital platforms and systems.
- Ensures that relevant web performance data is analysed, made available to others on regular basis, learning's and improvement are made as a result.
- Ensures marketing strategy for Exams web estates are aligned with the business areas and global marketing strategies.
- Makes appropriate links to issues across the broader organisation, to ensure that the development of marketing activity is based on informed business insight and joined-up thinking.
- Consults closely with internal stakeholders to understand current and future opportunities for digital marketing activities.
- Promotes and champions best practice marketing through the global Marketing Community of Practice and the global network of marketing professionals.
- Develops peer/personal networks within and outside Marketing to enhance own knowledge and expertise.
- Proactively builds and maintains excellent relationships with internal partners and stakeholders to ensure integrated, joined up and future-proofed approaches and solutions.
- Using agreed corporate systems and processes, where needed, plans and manages the budget for the relevant sector area.
- Conducts monthly and year-end reporting on progress against plan and deliverables, budget, and management of issues and risks.
- Actively applies learning from this process to improve financial planning, management and performance within their area.
- Plans and prioritises own work activities to ensure effective delivery of diverse responsibilities and internal customer deliverables over a monthly to quarterly time horizon.
- Determines work plans and coordinates input from others (who may be outside the direct management line) to meet specific objectives.
- Shares intelligence and ideas to support senior managers in identifying/developing new ways in which Marketing could positively impact upon the British Council's operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications
Minimum/essentialDesirable
A degree in marketing, communications or relevant discipline, or demonstrable equivalent level of experiencePostgraduate or Masters level marketing or business qualification
Role specific knowledge and experience
- Evidence of a successful track record in digital content creation, management, or strategy.
- Experience of using and managing Content Management Systems like Drupal and Wordpress.
- Basic experience with SEO & UX/UI principles and their application in web content creation.
- Experience of developing digital content and layout to optimise sales conversion or sales growth
- Proven expertise in using web analytics tools (eg, Google Analytics, SEMrush, Hotjar, Clarity).
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and digital governance best practices.
- Proficiency in Excel with the ability to crosscheck and manipulate multiple spreadsheets.
- Experience in a global organisation.
- Experience in a relevant industry.
- Introductory experience with inbound marketing and HubSpot.
