Evidential Typing Assistant P/T

Overview

Evidential Typing Assistants prepare typed verbatim transcripts and summary records of police interviews conducted under caution; typed witness statements; and 999 emergency telephone call transcripts in support of prosecution cases that are put before the criminal courts.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare typed, accurate, balanced and reliable summary records and verbatim transcripts of voluntary police interviews and interviews conducted under caution
• Prepare typed witness statements and verbatim transcripts of 999 Emergency Telephone Calls
• Prepare typed transcripts from digital or hard media recordings including CCTV, body worn video and other electronic systems
• Liaise with police officers and staff in support of the work undertaken by the unit
• Maintain accurate records and ensure the security of recorded media and associated documentation

• Vetting: Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
• Medical: Appointment to this role will be dependent upon you successfully passing medical checks, which may include a drug and hearing test.
• Hours/Location: The hours of work are 20.5hrs per week at times agreed by management. The CMU is open Monday to Thursday from 07:00 - 17:00 hours and on Friday from 07:00 - 16:00 hours. The role will initially be based at Wednesfield police station, but the team will be moving to Wolverhampton Central police station during the summer of 2027.
