We are looking for a driven Operations Manager with strong expertise in European road freight and trucking movements to lead a busy import/export operation. This is a key leadership role where you'll shape performance, drive efficiencies, and develop a high-performing team.
The roleAs Operations Manager, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the transport and logistics function, ensuring a seamless and efficient operation:
- Lead and manage the full European road freight operation, including import/export movements
- Oversee customs compliance processes, ensuring all regulations are met
- Manage costings, invoicing, and quotations to maintain commercial performanceBuild and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and partners across Europe
- Monitor and improve transport costs, delivery performance, and operational efficiency
- Plan routes, manifest shipments, and ensure smooth execution of all transport activities
- Analyse performance data and implement improvements based on KPIs
- Handle customer queries and resolve operational challenges effectively
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team, ensuring high standards and engagement
- Identify opportunities for business growth and new contracts
- Produce regular operational and performance reports
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and operational standards
- Proven experience as an Operations Manager within European road freight / trucking
- Strong understanding of import/export logistics and customs procedures
- Track record of improving processes and driving operational efficiency
- Experience managing KPIs, budgets, and performance metrics
- Strong leadership and people management ability
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Confident communicator with strong customer focus
- IT literate (Microsoft Office; transport systems experience beneficial)
