Estates Support Officer

Northampton Full-Time £25,110 - £27,400 per annum

Think FE are working in partnership with a well established, community focused further education college in Northamptonshire, recognised for its excellent campus facilities and commitment to providing a high quality student experience. With strong investment in its estate and a supportive internal culture, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a dedicated estates team.

We are seeking a proactive and hands on Estates Support Officer to help maintain and enhance the college environment across campus sites.

The Role

This is a varied and practical role where no two days are the same. You will provide a caretaker/handyman service across the estate, ensuring buildings, facilities and grounds are maintained to high standards and in line with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintaining college buildings, plant, structures and ancillary equipment
  • Ensuring teaching facilities, furniture, fixtures and fittings are available, clean and fit for purpose
  • Carrying out minor repairs such as:
    • Replacing light bulbs
    • Fixing leaking taps
    • Touching up paintwork
    • Repairing door handles
    • Fixing toilet cisterns
  • Escalating larger repairs promptly to the helpdesk
  • Emptying bins daily, maintaining clean car parks and grounds, litter picking throughout the day
  • Monitoring outsourced cleaning and grounds teams
  • Undertaking small ground works, such as minor pothole repairs
  • Supporting furniture, equipment and office moves as required
What We're Looking For
  • A Level 2 trade qualification in a relevant area (electrical, plumbing, carpentry or similar)
  • Experience in a similar estates, caretaker or maintenance role
  • Strong DIY skills or a background in a relevant trade
  • The ability to carry out minor repairs independently
  • A flexible and proactive approach to work
  • The confidence to engage positively with staff, students and visitors

  • Salary: £25,110 - £27,400 per annum
  • 33 days' annual leave (including 8 bank holidays) and up to 5 additional College closure days
