Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Officer

We're looking for an Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS) professional with a solid grounding in sustainability and a proactive approach to improving performance across the business. In this role, you'll help maintain legal compliance while driving progress in our environmental performance, ESG commitments, and long term sustainability goals. You'll play a key part in embedding responsible, resource efficient practices and supporting a positive, forward thinking safety and environmental culture throughout the organisation.
Responsibilities:
Environmental & Sustainability (ESG)
- Monitor environmental performance and ensure compliance with regulations and ISO 14001.
- Support delivery of sustainability and ESG objectives.
- Collect and report data on energy, waste, water, and carbon emissions.
- Contribute to initiatives that reduce environmental impact and improve resource efficiency.
- Maintain environmental records, legal registers, and required ESG reporting.
- Promote sustainability awareness across the organisation.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Support implementation and monitoring of HSE policies and management systems.
- Conduct inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring actions are completed.
- Assist with incident investigations and follow up reporting.
- Provide practical HSE guidance to staff and contractors.
- Support HSE meetings, safety engagement, and compliance with ISO 45001/14001.
- Assist with internal/external audits and regulatory reporting.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to enhance EHS and sustainability performance.
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulations, and best practice.
- Maintain professional development through training and relevant memberships.
- Experience in an EHS, sustainability, or compliance role
- Understanding of environmental or HSE regulations; ISO 14001/45001 experience is a bonus.
- Ability to collect, analyse, and interpret data confidently.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with teams across the business
- Proactive mindset with an interest in sustainability and continuous improvement.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH Certificate, IEMA Foundation/Certificate) or willingness to work towards them.
