This role requires on-site presence at Asda House in Leeds three days per week. We're really looking forward to having you around!

We're looking for an Environment Manager working within our Online & Rewards domain. This role will have sole accountability for non-production environments in this domain working across several highly integrated and dependant products you will have the ability to shape environment processes, engagement, governance and tooling. Working cross functionally to drive environment delivery, suitability & availability to agreed requirements, cost and timelines.

Working as part of the enterprise-wide Environments team you will play a central role in setting the strategic direction of environment management across the business. Collaborating with environment leads, platform owners & senior stakeholders across all business domains to deliver a seamless approach to environment provisioning, planning & management.

Your Role

  • Develop and embed the environment strategy and standards across the Online & Rewards domain, fostering strong engagement and cross-functional collaboration
  • Design, implement, and evolve environment capabilities that meet the needs of a modern, high-performing retail business.
  • Take full accountability for the availability, readiness, and overall health of test environments, ensuring they meet delivery demands.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for environment-related issues, driving swift and effective resolution to minimize impact to delivery.
  • Maintain accurate environment schedules, inventories, and capacity plans to align with current and future delivery requirements.
  • Manage environment-related costs through efficient resource use and reusability, without compromising delivery quality.
  • Enhance environment stability through robust control mechanisms, proactive monitoring, and real-time alerting.
  • Drive initiatives that support functional, performance, and automation testing, ensuring environments underpin the test phase they need to support
  • Mentor environment leads, vendors, and delivery partners, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Provide clear, concise updates on environment status, risks, costs, and delivery progress at programme boards and delivery forums.

About You

  • Proven experience managing complex test environments across multiple projects and platforms.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles (Agile, DevOps, Waterfall) and how test environments support each phase.
  • Familiarity with environment provisioning, configuration, and cost management in cloud-based infrastructures (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integration of test environments into automated workflows.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across development, testing, operations, and business teams.
  • Knowledge of data masking, test data management, and compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR).
  • Ability to mentor and guide technical teams on environment best practices and standards.
