English Teacher

Level: Lower and/or Upper Secondary School Academic Year: 2025/2026

Location: Versilia, Tuscany Immediate availability preferred

EIS Versilia is looking for a forward-thinking, motivated English Teacher to join its secondary school team. We are seeking a professional who not only masters the language, but also inspires learners through innovative, student-centered methodologies, with a strong focus on communication, critical thinking, and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

- Teach English Language and Literature to students aged 11-18 (based on experience and school needs);

- Design interactive and inclusive lessons that integrate active methodologies such as:

• Debate and public speaking

• Flipped classroom

• Gamification and storytelling

• Project-based learning (PBL)

• Creative writing workshops

- Promote oral fluency, argumentation skills, and collaborative learning;

- Use digital tools to enhance participation, such as Edpuzzle, Padlet, Quizlet, Google Workspace, and online writing platforms;

- Support student participation in Model United Nations (MUN), essay competitions, and international events;

- Collaborate with colleagues to develop cross-curricular units linking English with global citizenship, history, and the arts.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

- Degree in English, Modern Languages, Linguistics or Education;

- Recognized teaching qualification for secondary school;

- C1 or native level of English (CEFR);

- Experience or strong interest in applying innovative teaching strategies in the EFL/ESL context;

- Excellent interpersonal skills, classroom management, and the ability to motivate diverse learners;

- Familiarity with curriculum design, assessment rubrics, and CEFR descriptors.

Preferred but not required:

- Experience in international schools or bilingual programmes;

- Knowledge of Cambridge English exams or IB/IGCSE curricula;

- Training or certification in methodologies such as CLIL, TEFL/TESOL, or debate coaching.
