English Teacher - Pontefract

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Full-Time English Teacher to join a supportive secondary school in Pontefract as soon as possible, covering a long-term staff absence on supply. The school is known for its strong sense of community, high expectations, and commitment to developing confident, independent learners. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher or an ECT looking to gain valuable experience in a well-resourced and welcoming environment. Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4.
• Assess, track, and report on student progress in line with school policies.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes a love of literature and language.
• Contribute to departmental planning and the wider school community.
• Uphold the school's ethos and maintain high standards of teaching and learning.

Pre-requisites

• Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., QTS or equivalent).
• Proven experience of teaching English at secondary level.
• Strong knowledge of the English curriculum and assessment requirements.
• Two education or school-based references.
• A valid enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
