English Academic Coach

Do you have an English degree and want to gain classroom experience before starting teacher training?

Are you ready to support secondary students with tailored English interventions across KS3 and KS4?

English Academic Coach
Immediate start until July 2027
£80 - £100 per day
'Good' secondary school, Ward of Northfield
1:1 and small group academic support across the English curriculum

The Role:
As an English Academic Coach, you'll work alongside the English department to deliver targeted academic support to students across KS3 and KS4. You'll run small group sessions, provide one-to-one interventions, and assist in preparing pupils for assessments and exams. Your role will also involve contributing to lesson preparation and helping pupils develop their confidence in reading, writing, and critical analysis.

The Candidate:
You should hold a degree in English Literature, English Language, or a closely related subject. A clear communicator with a supportive and proactive attitude, you'll need to be confident working with young people. Any previous experience in education, tutoring, or mentoring will be helpful but not essential.

Requirements
  • Degree - A 2:2 or above in any subject.
  • Communication - Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
  • Enhanced DBS - Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Desire to work in education/with children - A strong interest in supporting students and pursuing a teaching career.
  • Experience working with children - Any relevant experience such as tutoring, mentoring, or volunteering is desirable but not essential.
