Job Description

MERITUS are recruiting for a Engineering New Business Support Executive to support Test Equipment bids across the UK and Western Europe. *PLEASE NOTE* You MUST come from an Engineering background to be eligible for the role.

ENGINEERING NEW BUSINESS SUPPORT EXECUTIVE (BID SUPPORT) - INSIDE IR35 - £NEG - STEVENAGE - 6 months (+LIKELY EXTENSION) - SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW PROCESS - ENGINEERING BACKGROUND ONLY

This role supports the Test Equipment Bidding Team in developing technical and costed proposals for UK-based test solutions across Development, Production, and Export domains. It involves working closely with design and technical teams as well as subject matter experts to ensure consistent, timely, and high-quality proposal submissions. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering bids across multiple programs, ensuring alignment with project schedules and cost objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compile cost estimates for UK-based bids by collaborating with various technical and business units, including those based internationally.

  • Create and deliver technical and costed proposal documentation, and when necessary, present this to relevant UK programme teams.

  • Support decision-making by providing accurate bid data and demonstrating initiative when adapting to shifting requirements or unexpected challenges.

  • Work within a small, focused UK team under the direction of the New Business Manager to generate bid data and associated presentation material.

  • Maintain configuration control of bid documentation, entering data into internal data management systems (eg, Matrix, JIRA, Primavera - training provided).

  • Ensure strong cross-functional alignment by coordinating with stakeholders across Hardware Design, Software, Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, etc., to keep processes streamlined.

  • Foster and maintain effective working relationships with all key interfaces and stakeholders, advocating for the Test Equipment function and engaging teams to ensure successful outcomes.

  • Track and support achievement of key milestones and KPIs related to bid and planning execution.

  • Provide guidance and support to test equipment and programme teams, ensuring alignment with best practices.

  • Identify and support opportunities for process and functional improvements.

  • Generate and maintain high-quality documentation, reports, plans, and presentations, including delivery to international leadership stakeholders.

  • Actively contribute to a collaborative and forward-looking Test Equipment function across the broader business environment.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Timely and accurate delivery of multiple bid submissions.

  • Effective configuration and data control using internal tools and processes.

  • Sustained positive relationships with program stakeholders and leadership.

  • Ability to balance immediate delivery objectives with long-term strategy.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience compiling bid and cost data from technical subject matter experts into standardised proposal formats.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with a wide range of internal stakeholders, from engineering teams to programme leads.

  • Proficient in standard office tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Background in an engineering-related discipline is advantageous, particularly with familiarity in the product life cycle (from concept and development through to delivery and support), though not essential.
