Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing engineering team responsible for the design, development, and continuous improvement of heavy-duty mobile machinery used in demanding industrial applications.

This is a key leadership role where you will combine strong technical expertise with strategic thinking and people leadership to deliver innovative, cost effective, and high quality engineering solutions to market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a team of engineers focused on the design and enhancement of heavy-duty machinery
  • Oversee multiple concurrent engineering projects, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Quality, Sales, Service, Marketing, and external stakeholders to ensure customer requirements are fully embedded in product development
  • Drive the "Voice of the Customer" into product design specifications and ongoing improvements
  • Manage engineering resources, budgets, and project priorities effectively
  • Ensure compliance with established engineering standards, safety requirements, and product development processes (including NPPD)
  • Identify and implement cost-reduction opportunities, design improvements, and field issue resolutions
  • Promote standardisation of components and sub assemblies across product lines
  • Provide strong leadership through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and team development
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and support employee engagement, attendance, and development planning
  • Ensure engineering operations align with health, safety, and environmental policies
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and wider business functions
  • Occasional international travel may be required
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven track record in the design, development, and launch of heavy machinery or complex engineered products
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing engineering teams
  • Strong background in project management and supplier management
  • Experience working at a strategic level within an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency with CAD systems, TMS, and structured product development processes (e.g. NPPD)
