Head of Engineering

The objective of this position is to provide the lead technical delivery for the Company.

The Head of Engineering will work closely with the Head of Development in assessing the technical feasibility of new sites, managing the connection process for new plant projects and delivering operational assets. The responsibilities will include delivering the new plant in a timely, cost-efficient and safe manner. For existing plants, the key responsibility for operation and maintenance will lies with the Head of Operations - this role will provide key Engineering oversight.

The successful candidate shall be very hands-on working with their team of internal and external resources to support new opportunities at the bid stage and then to lead their implementation and operation. To be successful they will have a strong knowledge of project management, supply chain and operational requirements all backed by deeper technical knowledge and experience.

Key Objectives of the role:

1. Work closely with the Head of Development to appraise the connection potential and other technical aspects of possible new sites
2. Rapidly produce outline layout plans and electrical connection schematics for possible sites to enable Development Team discussions with landlords, distribution companies and equipment suppliers. Be able to engage in meaningful technical discussions to challenge proposed technical solutions for connections.
3. Post project award, manage the equipment and project tender process to ensure competitive prices for equipment supply are achieved.
4. Implement the project procurement, build and commissioning.
5. Manage the handover of plant in an effective manner to the operations team ensuring O&M arrangements in place, including safety management, for the life of the plant.
6. Have the ability to act as a Senior Authorised Person under the company Safety Rules.
7. Manage/implement/maintain telecontrol systems to all sites.

Key attributes/experience:

1. Experienced power engineer with significant experience of small power projects c £5M-£20M. Will be familiar with distribution and generation issues, including protection.
2. Will have worked in conjunction with a UK distribution company or National grid.
3. Able to produce and interpret plan layouts and single line electrical diagrams.
4. Able to manage tight document control system and produce documents as required.
5. As a member of the Exec Team, support the CEO where necessary.

Salary Range
Salary £90 - £100k + Bonus + Pension
