Location: Huntingdon or Peterborough - Hybrid Working 2-3 days in office weekly

Anglian Water offers a flexible approach, this role provides you with hybrid working. Your base location will be in our Peterborough office with the expectation of being in the office 2-3 days a week.

Be part of something major - help shape the future of water infrastructure.

At Anglian Water, we're establishing a new Major Projects Team to lead the design, planning, consenting, enabling works, construction, and commissioning of a significant programme of infrastructure projects throughout AMP8 and beyond. This new team will not only deliver a portfolio of strategic projects but will also enhance our delivery capacity by introducing new delivery partners - including design consultants and construction contractors - to support our wider investment ambitions across AMP8 and AMP9.

With a total projected value of £400-500 million, these projects will individually range between £25-100 million. The programme will include:
  • Interception, storage, and treatment of storm water and sewer overflows
  • Coastal discharge improvements
  • Enhanced water abstraction and treatment
  • Upgraded wastewater treatment facilities
While our initial focus is on delivering AMP8 projects, this approach will evolve to shape and deliver even more complex schemes in AMP9.

We're assembling a specialist team that will:
  • Lead the planning, procurement, and delivery of this high-impact capital programme
  • Oversee both internal project management teams and external supply chain partners
What’s next?

To meet AMP8 timelines, construction needs to begin by the start of Year 3. That means design development, planning, and procurement will commence in 2025, with contracts awarded early in Year 2.

How will we deliver it?

We’re developing a tailored procurement strategy, likely to include:
  • Preliminary design and consenting by Anglian Water’s technical teams, followed by NEC Option C Target Price design-and-build tenders
  • Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) models where contractors shape design and consenting prior to agreeing target prices for construction
Regardless of the route, strong, collaborative leadership from our internal teams will be critical to successensuring engineering quality, schedule control, cost management, and commercial alignment.
