Join our newly formed Mobile Engagement Team at giffgaff and help shape how over 4 million members experience our mobile products every day. As the Engineering Lead, you'll play a pivotal role in building this vision - driving technical excellence, fostering a culture of innovation, and enabling your team to deliver meaningful, member-first experiences that make a real impact.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead a team of engineers with a full-stack attitude within a self-organising, cross functional product engineering team using extreme programming practices - notably pair/ensemble programming and test-driven development.
  • Be a force-multiplier and change-driver for the team, raising the bar of technical excellence, championing industry best-practices and our engineering principles; driving great behaviours and practices in the team.
  • Build, support and maintain automated, fault-tolerant, scalable products and solutions that are continuously delivered into our production environment.
  • Leverage your experience and skills to assist your team in establishing the best architecture for your products and services.
  • Be technically curious, tackling problems without giving up, and producing solutions that less-experienced engineers can use, maintain, and learn from.
  • Know how to develop and follow a sense of purpose. Be willing to point out, own, and fix things that are broken about our company and in your own career track.
  • Work with your other engineering lead colleagues to drive the technical direction and innovation, encouraging collaboration and excellence.
  • Client-side: Typescript, Next.js, React and various React ecosystem tools and libraries. Some legacy PHP that we're working very hard to move away from.
  • Infrastructure: AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Kafka, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, ElasticSearch, Kibana, Grafana, and Prometheus.

However, you should be comfortable using a variety of frameworks, languages, and tools and be happy to learn new skills when the need arises.
