Job Description
Your position in our crew

The Electronics an Weapons Systems Design Department at NVL covers several disciplines:

  • The Electrical Engineering Group deals with automation systems, cable systems, electric drives, lighting systems and alarm systems on board, among other things.
  • The System Integration group is responsible for topics relating to communication, navigation, sensor, reconnaissance and weapon systems /combat management systems, information security, ship signature and electromagnetic compatibility.

Your responsibilities at a glance:

  • You will be responsible for the design, integration, support and testing of the systems and assemblies assigned to you within a project. You will prepare technical enquiry and order specifications, working closely with internal departments and external partners (subcontractors, authorities).
  • You will conduct technical negotiations with suppliers and evaluate offers in close consultation with the purchasing department, keeping an eye on both quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • In close cooperation with project partners, you will coordinate the contractually compliant integration of your systems, thus ensuring technical implementation in accordance with requirements.
  • You will be responsible for preparing acceptances, handover and commissioning at the subcontractor's premises or on the ship, including the creation of test specifications and protocols.
  • Last but not least, you will manage the flow of information and coordination with neighbouring coordinators and system managers within the department as well as with other departments.

What's in your kitbag

  • Completed degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, communications engineering, information technology, marine engineering, industrial engineering or a comparable field of study, or alternatively further training as a technician (m/f/d)
  • Ideally several years of experience in the shipbuilding industry or maritime sector
  • Advantageous: knowledge of applicable naval construction regulations, standards and norms
  • You are able to confidently answer technical questions in German and English
  • Confident use of MS Office, ERP systems, 3D CAD systems and product lifecycle management systems
  • A technically savvy, efficient, reliable and solution-oriented team player with a high degree of initiative, quick comprehension and confident manner
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (approx. 10%)
