Our Sustainability Operations team provides active energy and sustainability management to commercial real estate clients across Ireland, the UK and EMEA, delivering measurable energy cost reductions through our proprietary JouLLe energy intelligence platform and hands on operational expertise.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to join JLL's growing Sustainability Operations team in Dublin. As an Energy Engineer you will support the delivery of energy and sustainability programmes across a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate clients. The role combines technical energy management with hands on operational delivery, data analytics, ISO management system compliance, and Measurement & Verification (M&V) reporting. You will work closely with Energy & Sustainability Analyst, Data Integration Manager, and senior client stakeholders to drive measurable, guaranteed energy reduction outcomes. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Sustainability and will be primarily based at our Dublin city centre office, with travel to client properties as required.
What You'll Do Energy & Sustainability Programme Delivery- Support the implementation and delivery of energy and sustainability programmes for client sites, regions, and accounts.
- Monitor and report on energy consumption, utility costs, bill validation, and KPI performance trends.
- Perform site-level data collection, analysis, and reporting for energy, water, and waste metrics.
- Prepare monthly energy variance reports and sustainability performance updates for clients.
- Maintain and evaluate utility billing data, identifying cost saving opportunities and anomalies.
- Support technology installs and BMS integration plans in Client buildings.
- Conduct energy audits and site assessments to identify efficiency opportunities.
- Deliver BER Pathway reports.
- Assist in the development of site energy profiles, surveys, and performance improvement plans.
- Deliver energy and sustainability improvement projects at operating facilities.
- Conduct Measurement & Verification (M&V) analysis in accordance with IPMVP protocols.
- Model energy savings interventions and their impact on building performance.
- Contribute to sustainability goals including energy efficiency, zero waste, and carbon reduction strategies.
- Manage and develop JLL's JouLLe energy monitoring platform, ensuring accurate data acquisition and client ready reporting.
- Scrutinise Building Management Systems (BMS) and Asset Management Systems to identify where systems are operating outside optimal parameters.
- Analyse energy data trends, develop dashboards, and produce performance summaries using Excel, Power BI, and JouLLe.
- Onboard new properties into the portfolio management system, maintaining and verifying energy, water, and waste data.
- Collaborate with client teams, building managers, and regional sustainability stakeholders on energy initiatives.
- Support awareness programmes, training, and communication plans related to energy and environmental standards.
- Present energy and sustainability updates to clients and internal leadership.
- Prepare client facing reports, proposals, and presentations to a high standard.
- Support and maintain certified Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001) and Energy Management Systems (ISO 50001) at site level.
- Lead or support site level management reviews, audits, and compliance activities.
- Identify risks, non conformities, and improvement opportunities related to energy and environmental performance.
- Maintain accurate documentation and recordkeeping for EMS/EnMS programmes.
- Contribute to SEAI EEOS reporting and other regulatory compliance obligations.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Sustainable Energy, or related discipline preferred. In lieu of a degree, relevant experience and professional certifications will be considered.
Professional Experience- 2-4 years of experience in energy management, sustainability programmes, building operations, or a related field.
- Experience supporting or managing ISO 14001 and/or ISO 50001 management systems at site level, including audits and corrective actions.
- Demonstrable experience with energy monitoring systems, BMS platforms, or IoT data tools.
- Proven track record delivering energy efficiency projects and measurable cost savings for clients.
- Working knowledge of Energy Management Systems (ISO 50001) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001).
- Understanding of energy auditing principles, BER and M&V methodologies (IPMVP).
- Ability to identify, quantify, and deliver energy improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with HVAC systems, building controls, metering, and electrical infrastructure.
- Ability to analyse energy data, consumption trends, and KPIs.
- Experience preparing variance reports, dashboards, and performance summaries.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and data platforms - particularly Excel and Power BI.
- Experience with energy monitoring platforms and IoT systems is advantageous.
- SQL, Python, or similar data skills are a plus.
- Experience supporting end-to end project delivery and programme implementation.
- Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Project management skills including planning, budgeting, and deliverable tracking.
- Experience maintaining compliance documentation, tracking non conformities, and supporting audits.
- Familiarity with Irish and EU regulatory and sustainability compliance requirements (SEAI, EEOS, CSRD, EU Taxonomy).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and credibly with site teams, clients, and senior leadership.
- Experience supporting development of training and awareness programmes.
- Confident presenting energy and sustainability performance updates to client stakeholders.
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) - Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).
- Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP) - AEE.
- Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) - AEE.
- ISO 14001 and/or ISO 50001 Awareness or Internal Auditor certification.
- Familiarity with BER, SEAI supports, EEOS reporting obligations, and Irish energy policy.
- Experience with zero waste programmes and energy resilience strategies.
- Knowledge of emerging energy technologies including solar PV, battery storage, and electrification.
- Full, clean driving licence.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to data accuracy.
- Detail oriented with high standards for reporting quality and documentation.
- Ability to work effectively within structured processes while proactively identifying improvements.
- Collaborative team player across operations, client, and compliance functions.
- Self motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
