St Marys is one of the busiest Major Trauma Centres across London and has some of the highest survival rates for trauma nationally. This is through exceptional team work and a culture of collaboration. This is an exciting role within the Emergency Department at St Marys Hospital, and we are looking for a dynamic and experienced band 6 nurse to join our emergency department team to provide specialist trauma and resuscitation care to patients. There will be opportunity to develop the role, foster a culture of continuous learning and be at the forefront of trauma and resuscitative care

Main duties of the job
  • Carry out planned care for a group of patients without supervision
  • Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based, individualised patient care
  • Assist and advise staff, both registered and unregistered in the delivery of patient care
  • Maintain accurate clinical observations of the patient and act accordingly

Person Specification Education
  • Full valid UK NMC Adult registration
  • Post-qualification education in Emergency Nursing or equivalent experience
  • Practice assessor course
  • ILS
  • Critical Care Transfer Course
  • ALS
  • Leadership course
  • PGD course
  • IRMER course
Experience
  • Demonstrable significant experience in A&E as a registered nurse
  • Experience of taking charge of the department and managing patient flow
  • Experience of working in a minor injuries unit
  • Experience in Quality Improvement
Skills
  • Significant Experience with Emergency Nursing, Critical Care or High Dependency
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Experience in leading a team
  • Experience in teaching small groups
  • Experience with audit and research
Other requirements
  • Sufficient to fulfil the duties of the post with the provision of any reasonable aids and adaptations
