Job Description
Overview

We are looking for an EMC Project Engineer to join one of our defence clients in their EMC Project Team who support programmes throughout their product lifecycles from concept through to disposal.

The majority of the work is establishing, progressing and delivering the risk reduction and qualification strategies that will bring a product into service. The role involves writing Environmental Requirement Specifications (ERS's) and subsequent documentation including EMC Control Plans, Proving Plans, Proving Requirements and Proving Instructions in support of product development and qualification, reviewing hardware and may include a hands-on review of the hardware and some informal testing. The EMC department is split between a hands-on test team in a state-of-the-art EMC Facility and a project consultancy team embedded across all projects to ensure good EMC practice and design.

Responsibilities
  • Establish, progress and deliver risk reduction and qualification strategies for products from concept to disposal.
  • Write Environmental Requirement Specifications (ERS's) and supporting documents: EMC Control Plans, Proving Plans, Proving Requirements, and Proving Instructions.
  • Review hardware and participate in hands-on reviews and informal testing where required.
  • Collaborate with the EMC test team and project consultancy to ensure good EMC practice and design.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Higher education or experience in Electronics, Electrical, Physics, EMC, or related fields.
  • Understanding of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and design principles.
  • Ability to work to defined deadlines and within budget.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional manner and adaptability for evolving project needs.
  • Experience in the defence sector is desirable.
  • Knowledge of applying military EMC standards to system, sub-system, or equipment level (e.g., Defence Standard 59-, AECTP500, Mil-Std-461, RTCA DO-160 / EUROCAE ED-14).
  • Previous experience delivering EMC-related support.
  • Security eligibility: UK nationality and the ability to obtain the relevant security vetting level for the role.
Working Arrangements

The role offers flexible working but requires engineers on site for 3 days per week at secure sites in Bristol or Hertfordshire where SC clearance is needed.
