About the Opportunity

I'm currently working with an innovative company in the electric vehicle (EV) sector based near Kortrijk, who are looking to expand their R&D team with a talented Embedded Software Engineer.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a high-tech environment where you'll be working on cutting-edge embedded systems for EV applications. The role offers a mix of software development, low-level hardware interaction, and cross-functional collaboration with hardware teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain embedded software in C/C++
• Work on bare-metal systems and with real-time operating systems (RTOS)
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to support PCB integration, bring-up, and debugging
• Develop firmware to interface with low-level hardware peripherals (SPI, UART, I2C, CAN, etc.)
• Contribute to system design and functional validation
• Support the full software development lifecycle, including documentation and testing
• Ensure the software meets quality, safety, and performance requirements

Must-Have Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with C/C++ in embedded environments
• Solid understanding of bare-metal programming and RTOS concepts
• Experience working closely with hardware teams
• Familiarity with microcontrollers, communication protocols, and embedded debugging

Nice-to-Have (Big Plus)

• Experience with PCB design, schematic review, and hardware debugging tools (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, etc.)
• Background in electronics or circuit analysis
• Knowledge of automotive or EV industry standards (e.g. ISO 26262, MISRA C)

Languages

• Fluent English is essential
• Dutch is a strong advantage due to team and documentation needs
