Job Description
Collins Aerospace seeks a Research Hardware Engineer in Cork, Ireland to develop advanced embedded systems for aerospace applications.
What You Will Do- Architecture & Design: Define and lead the architecture and development of sophisticated embedded electronic systems with emphasis on processor architectures and custom acceleration engines.
- HDL Development: Lead RTL development, integration, and verification using SystemVerilog for complex digital designs.
- Hardware Acceleration: Design and implement custom hardware acceleration engines to meet demanding performance, safety, reliability, and operational constraints.
- Collaboration: Work closely with software/firmware engineers, system architects, and product teams to ensure seamless hardware software integration.
- Testing & Validation: Develop and execute comprehensive test plans; use debugging tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers to validate designs.
- Documentation & Standards: Create and maintain detailed design documentation; ensure compliance with industry standards such as DO 254, A(M)C A.
- Technical Leadership: Serve as a technical authority during design reviews and mentor other engineers on best practices.
- PhD in Electronics Engineering with 0-2+ years of academic or industrial experience, or Master's degree with 2-5+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience with FPGA development and HDL design using Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilog.
- Familiarity with FPGA development tools such as Xilinx Vivado or Intel Quartus.
- Working knowledge of RTL design, digital logic, and debugging techniques.
- Basic understanding of microcontrollers, embedded systems, or computer architecture.
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross functional teams.
- Experience with SystemVerilog based verification methodologies.
- Experience with embedded software development in C/C++.
- Exposure to high speed digital design, signal integrity, and power management.
- Experience supporting hardware integration, testing, and troubleshooting in a lab environment.
