Job Description

We are seeking an Electronics/Testing Technician to join our clients' Hardware Team. The successful candidate will be in charge of the assembly, repair and testing of a range of downhole and surface products.

Responsibilities:

  • Assembling, inspecting and building downhole tools and surface equipment.
  • Conducting factory acceptance testing and system testing.
  • Verifying and testing full electronic and mechanical assemblies.
  • Conducting fault finding as required on defective tools and systems.
  • Soldering components, prototyping and modifications as required.
  • Participating in testing programs on site and at external locations.
  • Ability to read and produce wiring diagrams, schematics and assembly instructions. Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Providing technical assistance to operations as needed.
  • Creating testing procedures, specs and systems requirements documentation.
  • Cutting, stripping and preparing wiring looms.
  • Maintaining a QC record for all the work carried out.
  • Following QHSE procedures and ensuring a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring that all workshop tasks are organised and controlled in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Assisting with stock control and management.
  • Working alone or within a team.

Essential Requirements:

  • HND in electronics related discipline.
  • Strong technical capability with analogue and digital electronic systems.
  • Strong soldering and wiring skills.
  • IT literacy and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to work within a small multi-discipline team.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work unsupervised and exercise initiative to resolve potential problems.
  • Ability to inspect, test and qualify electronics systems.
  • Strong skills using oscilloscopes, PSU, function generators and willing to learn about other electronic testing equipment.
  • Good organisation and communication skills.
  • UK driving licence.

Desirable Requirements:

  • University degree in Electronics.
  • Strong technical understanding of downhole tools and operation.
  • Experience with logging or downhole monitoring systems.
  • Experience with design of microcontroller firmware.
  • Experience in testing prototype tools.
  • Experience in high temperature electronics systems.
