Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi - About the RoleTake your electrical trade expertise beyond the tools and into the classroom. Ara is seeking an Electrical Trades tutor to join our Applied Technology Faculty at the Woolston Trades Campus on a permanent, full-time basis.
In this hands on teaching role, you'll deliver practical and theory based electrical training aligned with current industry standards, supporting apprentices and learners on their pathway to EWRB registration. You'll be part of a collaborative, values led organisation that invests in your professional development, supports new educators, and is deeply committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, and learner success. This is a great opportunity for an experienced electrician looking to give back to the industry and help shape the future workforce.
While teaching experience or experience training apprentices would be an advantage, at Ara we value your skills and real world experience. Our tutors are well supported in these rewarding teaching roles and are assisted in gaining a formal teaching qualification.
You will have experience as a registered Electrician, with a significant amount of recent practical, hands on experience. If you are looking to take a new step and give back to your trade by passing on your extensive knowledge to our students, this role is for you.
- A recognised degree or trade qualification in Electrical Trade or a related field
- A skilled electrical industry professional with strong, recent hands on experience
- Ability to effectively support students to successfully achieve their learning outcomes
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to plan, organise, coordinate activities, and consistently meet deadlines
- Sound digital skills, including confidence using computers and Microsoft Office applications
- Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to work well with a diverse range of people at all levels, both within and outside the organisation
