Electrical Engineer - Naval Projects

Southwest Netherlands

Design the power behind Europe's most advanced naval ships.

Our client, a leading Dutch shipbuilder in the defence sector, is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team working on state-of-the-art naval vessels. From high-capacity power distribution to electromagnetic compliance, you'll engineer the systems that keep critical operations running - even under extreme conditions.

What you'll do

As Electrical Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing safe, efficient, and compliant electrical systems from concept to commissioning. You'll work within a model-based systems engineering environment and collaborate across disciplines to deliver real-world, combat-ready performance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop system designs for power distribution, lighting, and auxiliary systems, ensuring class compliance and customer requirements.
  • Create and maintain functional descriptions, drawings, and specification documents.
  • Calculate load balances and design EMC-compliant solutions (TEMPEST experience is a plus).
  • Define and execute test and validation plans for simulations (virtual testing) and real-world environments (FAT, HAT, SAT).
  • Manage input from vendors and subcontractors, reviewing and integrating their designs into the vessel.
  • Contribute to standardization and documentation of engineering methods.
  • Support proposal phases with conceptual electrical designs and commissioning activities.

What you bring

We're looking for a hands-on engineer who thrives in complex environments and understands the critical role of electrical systems in mission-critical vessels.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience designing complex electrical systems (preferably in marine, offshore, or aerospace sectors).
  • Strong background in high-power distribution, EMC compliance, and system reliability.
  • Experience working in MBSE environments, following the V-model.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
  • Experience working with multi-vendor, multidisciplinary projects.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport required due to project sensitivity.
  • Able to pass pre-employment security screening.
