The role

As an Electrical Controls - Mechanical Engineer, you'll impact national security, engineering excellence, and your own professional growth.

Day to day you will design and configure mechanical handling systems that support UK defence infrastructure, ensuring safety, reliability, and innovation.

• Deliver design and technical authority for mechanical handling systems and equipment.
• Lead multidisciplinary projects from concept through implementation.
• Produce engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and commissioning documentation.
• Manage technical queries and design deviations.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for compliance and innovation.

Essential experience

• Design and substantiation of mechanical systems and components.
• Strong understanding of engineering regulations, legislation, and standards.
• Proficiency in hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA).
• Ability to interpret and produce mechanical and electrical engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with crane systems, lifting equipment, and mechanical handling safety.

Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering is essential.

Security Clearance

Must be a sole UK national capable of obtaining and maintaining Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) clearance.
