Smurfit Westrock, a pulp and paper mill located in Dublin, GA, is actively seeking an Electrical & Industrial Maintenance Technician to support our operations as we strive to reach world class performance levels. The right candidate has a proven record of performance, and in previous jobs, has demonstrated the drive to achieve and move up. Ideal candidates initiate their own learning, get along well with others, and are helpful to co workers. Candidates must handle the physical job requirements (heat, noise, shift work, work indoors or outdoors) and have the mechanical, numerical and verbal aptitude to learn our jobs quickly.
Opportunity- Ability to identify and mitigate safety hazards before starting work, including proper use of PPE and NFPA 70E requirements.
- Acute awareness of the environmental impact of work processes and results.
- Utilization of excellent mechanical skills and knowledge (pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, power transmission, lubrication, rigging, welding) and electrical/electronic skills and knowledge (PLCs, A/C, D/C motors and drives, schematics) to achieve equipment uptime metrics in a continuous pulp and paper process manufacturing environment.
- Work positively with maintenance leadership, other maintenance crew members and all operations to troubleshoot and solve problems safely and expeditiously.
- Engage in preventive and predictive maintenance activities throughout the facility.
- Follow standard safety procedures, correct safety and environmental hazards, and report them to supervision immediately.
- Initiate and complete work orders and requisitions, and document all critical or pertinent information routinely.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be willing to work shift work and able to respond to calls.
- Computer skills - Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel); MS Project is a plus.
- Strong electronics background preferred, including experience in 480 V, 4160 V, 3 Phase controls, AB/Rockwell DC drives, AB/Rockwell PLCs, control logic, reading electrical drawings and ladder logic.
- NFPA 70E and NEC requirements for maintaining electrical systems.
- Proper use and care of test equipment and electrical PPE to troubleshoot electrical AC/DC motors, motor control circuits and process instrumentation loops and to make necessary repairs with minimal supervision in accordance with Federal and State regulations, and company work rules, policies and procedures.
- Excellent teamwork, cooperation and detailed problem solving skills.
- Calibration of level, temperature, flow, pressure transmitters and controls using Hart, FoxCom or Fluke calibrators.
- Calibration and repair of process control valves (Fisher) using Hart or Fluke calibrators.
- Distributed Controls System (DCS) knowledge for troubleshooting process controls.
- High School Diploma / GED with at least 5 years of experience in Electrical and Instrumentation field or a degree in Electrical and Instrumentation; mechanical craft experience is a positive benefit.
- Knowledge of industry standards.
- Experience in pulp and paper is preferred but not required.
