GT Stewart is arenowned multi-service law firm committed to access to justice. Our lawyersspecialise in criminal defence, family law, housing, civil liberties, and humanrights. We are a Legal 500 and Chambers UK recommended firm, and we arecurrently recruiting Duty Solicitors to join our Crime Team in our Barnet and CityOffice.

This is a full-timeposition within a dynamic and growing team, offering an excellent opportunityfor professional development within an award-winning law firm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Representing clients detained atpolice stations
  • Managing a caseload of criminaldefence cases covering a full range of offences
  • Conducting advocacy in theMagistrates' Court, including summary trials (and Crown Court hearings ifthe candidate has Higher Rights)
About You
  • Solicitor with at least 1 year'sPQE in criminal matters
  • Crime duty accreditation ispreferred but not essential (successful candidates without accreditationwill be expected to obtain it by January 2027).
  • Excellent communication andadvocacy skills
  • IT proficiency and ability to workwith case management systems
  • Ability to manage a demandingcaseload with minimal supervision
  • Pragmatic, professional, andpositive approach to work
  • Passion for publicly funded legalwork
  • Strong attention to detail andconfidence to work independently as well as in a team
  • Excellent client and team-buildingskills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlinesand remain calm under pressure
