Job Description

Parkwood Surgery are looking for a friendly, hardworking and enthusiastic Docman/clinical coder lead to join our Administrative team. You will be responsible for ensuring that all external and internal patient correspondence is acted upon in the appropriate timeframe, and this includes accurately coding into the patients medical record. The role includes:

  • Familiarity with Docman and EMIS web clinical software.
  • Ensuring that all incoming patient correspondence is scanned, acted upon and correctly coded to ensure the integrity of patients records.
  • Experience in medical terminology and clinical coding is essential.
  • This role is subject to DBS check.
Main duties of the job
  • Responsible for coding of relevant information to the patients electronic healthcare records.
  • Read all incoming correspondence to the practice, accurately coding the relevant diagnosis, procedure, information into the patients records. Ensure that follow up actions/tests are brought to the attention of the relevant staff.
  • Scan patient-related documents onto their medical records using codes as agreed by the clinical team.
  • Ensure all QOF related data is captured.
  • Ensure all clinical codes are current.
  • Ensure that patient medical problems are grouped and combined appropriately so that the medical records are always tidy.
  • Follow practice protocols to ensure consistent and high quality care is provided to our patients.
  • Correct errors in filing and ensure all corresponding records are amended accurately.

Person Specification Experience
  • Medical terminology Level 1 and 2 with a minimum of 2 years experience
