Job Description
Start date: September 1st or to be agreed upon Diver in archaeology Start date: September 1st or to be agreed upon Place of work: The Archaeological Service of the Canton of Bern is looking for a qualified diver to strengthen its diving team starting September 1st (or on a date to be agreed). Tasks: - Conduct scientific research in the field of archaeology and in wet environments within a team of 7 people. - Prospecting/monitoring, excavations, and supervision of third-party work in context, and perform work according to scientific criteria using digital tools (image processing software, GIS, databases, photography, topographic surveys (e.g., using a GNSS RTK receiver). - Support the diving team leader and your colleagues by applying safety instructions (monitoring diving, revision control). Your qualifications: - Diving certification (CMAS 2 or equivalent), driver's license category B, and ideally, category A (or you commit to obtaining it after your entry into the profession, preferably in the craft area). - Basic knowledge in archaeology and ideally, complementary knowledge in areas such as geographic systems (GIS), CAD programs, databases, photogrammetry, or topography. - Ability to work responsibly and reliably, both independently and as part of a team. - Physical endurance: working outdoors all year round, as well as time spent in the office. - Cultural diversity awareness of the Canton of Bern and ability to communicate in both French and German (acquired level B1 or equivalent). The Archaeological Service (SAB) is a section of the Office of Culture. It is the cantonal entity for the inventory, protection, research, and management of archaeological remains.
