Job Description

Little Waltham and Great Notley Surgery has an opportunity for a dispenser to join our busy pharmacy team,working across both our sites, atthe heart of our patient care service. This position is offered on a part-time basis for 25 hours per week working the following:

  • Monday 8.30am to 1.30pm
  • Wednesday 8.30am to 6.30pm
  • Friday 8.30am to 6.30pm
Main duties of the job
  • Process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses
  • Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient
  • Process hospital letters
  • Manage ordering stock and stock control
  • Answer and deal withdispensary phone enquiries
  • Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication
  • Any other duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the either the dispensary manager or practice manager

We are a 2-site, friendly training practice with over 21,000 patients. You will be supported by our team of 14 doctors, 3 nurse practitioners, nurses, healthcare assistants, receptionist, and admin team.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • At least a NVQ 2 Dispensary or equivalent Pharmacy Services qualification;
Experience
  • Excellent clinical and medication knowledge
  • Understanding and experience of working as a dispenser in GP practice setting
  • The commitment to continue to learn new clinical skills and develop your career
  • The confidence to work as part of a busy GP multi-disciplinary practice team and using your own initiative in decision making
  • The ability to be adaptable and flexible in your approach
  • Excellent patient facing inter-personal communication skills
