Directorate Support ManagerThe closing date is 06 August 2026
To support the operational management of the Gastroenterology Directorate, being able to work on a reactive basis to the needs of the Directorate.
This involves providing line management responsibility to a designated group of staff, managing waiting lists and managing day-to-day operational issues as they arise.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder priorities his/her own workload, including long-term tasks in support of the Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Service. Required to work without immediate referral to the Operational Manager, expected to use own initiative and to problem solve.
The post holder will also support the Operational Manager in performing designated activities and tasks that contribute to service objectives.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification Qualifications- Educated to degree level with or relevant experience
- Evidence of recent management skills development
- IT qualification (e.g. EDCL or MOUS)
- Experience of using MS Office
- Experience of waiting list management
- Experience of managing Welsh Government targets, such as RTT and SCP
- Experience of managing difficult situations and conflict resolution
- Experience of leading a team
- Experience of project management and service improvement
- Experience of working within a busy NHS enviroment
- Experience of database maintenance
- Good communication and organisation skills
- Ability to work under pressure and work within tight deadlines
- Ability to contribute to meetings and minute taking
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to deal with complex sensitive issues
- Understanding of Welsh Government targets, including diagnostic targets
- Understanding of confidentiality
- Flexible, adaptable and self-motivated to the service
- Understanding of hospital systems
- Understanding of Endoscopy systems and processes
