Director of Transformation

The purpose of this role is to support Salus in responding proactively to a rapidly evolving external environment, including changes in commissioning structures, system priorities, and wider NHS policy. This will involve leading and enabling organisational transformation programmes that strengthen operational resilience, improve service delivery, and position our organisation for sustainable growth.
The post holder will work across organisational boundaries to build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), partner providers, and member/shareholder practices. They will play a key role in shaping strategic direction, identifying new opportunities, and ensuring both organisations are well positioned within their respective health systems.
Overall, the role will combine strategic oversight with practical delivery, ensuring that collaboration and transformation initiatives are effectively implemented, deliver measurable benefits, and enhance outcomes for patients, partners, and stakeholders.
To provide strategic leadership for the potential collaboration between NHSU and Salus, overseeing the development, assessment, and delivery of integration opportunities, subject to due diligence and organisational agreement. The role will ensure that any collaboration is underpinned by a robust business case, clear governance arrangements, and alignment with the long term objectives of both organisations.
Main duties of the job- Support Salus through its transition from Frimley ICB by building strong links with Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Surrey Heartlands, Sussex and Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West (Thames Valley) ICBs while understanding system priorities, aligning services to commissioner needs and ensuring continuity of provision during and after transition.
- Strengthen Salus links within Hampshire and Isle of Wight ICB by focusing on key stakeholders and decision makers to retain income streams, including LMOC and Mayfield, and secure opportunities aligned with system priorities and commissioning intentions.
- Enhance links with shareholder practices by improving engagement, communication and transparency while demonstrating value, meeting practice needs, building trust, and reinforcing Salus reputation as a reliable high performing partner.
- Develop a joint business case for the integration of Salus into NHSU, subject to due diligence across financial, operational, clinical and governance areas, including review of risks, benefits and long term sustainability.
- Contribute as a key executive team member supporting day to day operations and longer term strategic development through decision making, performance oversight, organisational development and alignment between operations and strategy.
- Identify and deliver service development and transformation work that strengthens Salus position within the NHS and supports long term sustainability.
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement across commissioners, providers and partners to position Salus as a trusted and influential system partner.
- To support Salus in successfully navigating its transition away from Frimley ICB by establishing and embedding effective new working relationships with Hampshire and Isle of Wight, Surrey Heartlands, Sussex, and Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West (Thames Valley) ICBs.
- To proactively build and strengthen relationships on behalf of Salus within HIOW ICB, with a focus on influencing key stakeholders and decision makers.
- To enhance Salus' relationship with its shareholder practices by improving engagement, communication and transparency.
- To develop a comprehensive joint business case outlining the proposed integration of Salus into NHSU.
- To contribute as a key member of the executive team, supporting both the effective day to day operational management of Salus and the development and delivery of its longer term strategic direction.
- To support the identification and delivery of service development and transformation opportunities that strengthen Salus position within the evolving NHS landscape.
- To ensure that stakeholder engagement across commissioners, providers and partners is coordinated, consistent, and aligned with Salus' strategic goals.
- Ten years NHS experience.
- Five years experience in primary care.
- Previous experience as a director.
- Experience in ICB or commissioning role.
