Qualifications and Experience

  • Educated to degree or higher with relevant professional qualifications.
  • Experience with large, complex projects in rail, highways, water, or energy sectors.
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams.

Role Overview

The Head of Technical Services is responsible for leading and coordinating all Design, Service, and Planning disciplines within the project. The role ensures collaboration between service leads and construction delivery teams to deliver an assured project. Core functions include Permanent & Temporary Design, Planning, Environment, Quality Control & Assurance, Technical Control, Consent & Community Engagement.

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee Design & QA/QC functions.
  • Support the Head of Technical Services with responsibilities in Technical Control, Planning, Environment & Consent, and Community Engagement.
  • Coordinate with construction, QA/QC, commercial, planning, and cost control teams to provide guidance and oversight.
  • Ensure service teams are aligned with the delivery programme, constraints, opportunities, and risks.
  • Ensure project delivery complies with Strabag policies, procedures, and contractual requirements.
  • Demonstrate commitment to Health & Safety and Environmental policies.
  • Monitor and manage functional performance and KPIs.
  • Manage budgets and costs related to the services teams.
  • Ensure works adhere to Health & Safety Management Plan and are audited accordingly.
  • Achieve environmental and sustainability objectives.
  • Maintain a 'Works Information Deliverable schedule' and ensure compliance.
  • Identify and deliver business improvement opportunities, report on performance.
  • Provide leadership within the Project Leadership Team, setting standards and visual leadership.
  • Build, mentor, develop, and support the team to drive project success.
