Are you an experienced nurse leader with a passion for delivering exceptional care to older people? We are seeking an inspiring and dedicated Person in Charge (PIC)/Director of Nursing (ADON) to lead the clinical and operational management of a modern nursing home in Ireland.

About the RoleAs the Person in Charge/Director of Nursing, you will have overall responsibility for the leadership, management, and day-to-day operations of the nursing home. You will ensure the service meets all HIQA regulatory requirements while creating a safe, caring, and supportive environment for residents and staff.
You will lead a multidisciplinary team, promote a culture of excellence, and ensure every resident receives compassionate, high-quality, person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the nursing home.
- Ensure full compliance with the Health Act 2007, HIQA Standards, and all relevant legislation.
- Lead, motivate, and support nursing and care teams to deliver outstanding resident care.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and collaborative workplace culture.
- Ensure residents' dignity, independence, rights, and wellbeing remain at the centre of all care.
- Oversee clinical governance, quality assurance, and continuous service improvement.
- Manage staffing, budgets, rostering, and resource planning effectively.
- Maintain high standards of resident safeguarding and risk management.
- Support ongoing staff development, coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
- Participate in on-call responsibilities, including occasional night and weekend cover as required.
The successful candidate will have:
- A Third Level Degree in Nursing.
- Active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) and a current PIN.
- A postgraduate qualification in Healthcare Management (or willingness to complete one).
- A postgraduate qualification in Gerontology or Dementia Care is desirable.
- A minimum of 6 years' post-registration nursing experience.
- At least 3 years' experience in elderly care nursing within the last six years.
- A minimum of 3 years' management experience in a healthcare setting.
- Proven leadership, organisational, and people management skills.
- Excellent clinical knowledge and a strong understanding of HIQA regulations and clinical governance.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- A full, clean Irish driving licence and access to your own transport.
