A major opportunity for a transformational technology leader to redefine the Infrastructure & Operations function for a complex, high-growth organisation. This role combines strategic vision, hands-on modernisation, and cultural leadership to build a cloud-first, customer-centric, and highly reliable technology environment.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Director of Infrastructure & Technology Operations to lead an enterprise-wide modernisation across cloud platforms, networks, service management, end-user computing, observability, and operational excellence. You will set the strategy and lead a full transformation, ensuring both innovation and world-class BAU service delivery.

This role is ideal for a senior leader who delivers at pace, inspires teams, and knows how to balance transformation, operational stability, compliance, and cost governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the multi-year modernisation of infrastructure and operations, transforming culture, delivery models, and ways of working.
  • Drive Service Desk transformation, elevating it from a traditional ticket-driven team to a modern, customer-focused function with improved first-contact resolution, knowledge management, automation, and mature incident/problem/change processes.
  • Establish and execute enterprise infrastructure strategy, ensuring secure, scalable, reliable and cost-efficient services.
  • Complete cloud migration and lead cloud consolidation, governance, automation, and operational optimisation.
  • Build a mature FinOps practice, embedding forecasting, cost transparency, chargeback/showback, cloud optimisation and continuous financial governance into operational rhythms.
  • Oversee networks, hybrid connectivity, telephony, AV and workplace technologies, supporting seamless hybrid work.
  • Modernise end-user computing with modern device management, efficient life cycle processes, and improved hybrid collaboration experiences.
  • Lead service management evolution, selecting modern tooling and blending ITIL with agile ways of working.
  • Implement unified observability, monitoring and analytics to enable proactive operations and data-driven decision-making.
  • Drive innovation, evaluating emerging technologies (including AI/ML for operations) that increase reliability and efficiency.
  • Build and develop high-performing teams with clear capability models, engineering disciplines, and structured career pathways.
  • Lead vendor strategy, contractual governance, risk management, and financial optimisation across infrastructure.

About You

You will bring:

  • 10+ years' senior leadership experience across infrastructure and operations in complex organisations.
  • A proven track record shaping and delivering large-scale transformation programmes, including service management and cloud modernisation.
  • Deep experience with cloud platforms (preferably Azure), modern networking, workplace technology, and service management frameworks.
  • Demonstrable success in Service Desk transformation, improving maturity, quality, customer outcomes, and operational efficiency.
  • Strong FinOps capability, with experience building or maturing cloud financial management functions.
  • Expertise in monitoring, observability and SRE-aligned operational practices.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
  • Experience in regulated industries is advantageous but not essential.
