  • Salary : $166,354- $185,520, plus super and salary packaging is available

The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. About the role

The Office of the CEO has responsibility, within the context of State and Federal policy positions, for organisational direction and opportunities as they relate to Aboriginal children, families and the Victorian Aboriginal community.

The Director of the OCEO, works closely with and directly to the CEO, and is a member of the VACCA Leadership Group. In this role you will:

  • Lead and influence VACCA's advocacy and policy development across the organisation
  • Drive strategic planning, governance, compliance, and Board reporting processes
  • Manage social policy, fundraising and philanthropy, external training, and communications teams
  • Build relationships with external sector stakeholders, ACCOs, partners, and ministerial advisers
  • Support the CEO in organisational leadership and strategic direction
  • Strengthen capacity building in advocacy and policy development throughout VACCA
About You
  • Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of State and Federal Aboriginal affairs; politically, societal and cultural, with commitment to continually build knowledge of such, along with a high level of awareness of the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities.
  • Outstanding knowledge and understanding of the State and Federal policy positions, directions and political opportunities as they relate to Aboriginal children, families and the Victorian Aboriginal community.
  • Proven experience in providing high level quality policy advice, written and verbal.
  • Display influential policy assessment skills including data analysis with narration, and synopsis of Forum papers and policy materials with evidence of highly developed conceptual, analytical, research and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with demonstrated experience in establishing and developing effective stakeholder relationships and networks within and external to an organisation.
  • Sound understanding of VACCA's governance service delivery and organisational compliance obligations.
Requirements
  • Experience in child & Family services and/or Graduate qualification in Social Work or related discipline is essential.
  • Post Graduate qualification is desirable
  • Valid Police Check, a Working with Children's Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
