Direct Payment Worker - Howden

This is an external vacancy and is not employment with East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

The individual is male in his 30's and resides in Howden. He requires a dedicated worker due to him having Cerebral Palsy. He is looking for a Personal Assistant that help him to lead an independent life.

He likes are eating out, socialising with friends, gaming, he is a DJ and loves to organise karaoke nights. Your role will not include singing (unless you wanted to).

About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for: -

• Support with all aspects of Personal Care
• Support with meal preparation.
• Support with household duties to maintain a comfortable, safe home.
• Taking to appointments & shopping.

Hours

16 hours per week during term time and 27 per week during school holidays.

There will be a need for some weekend and evening work. This can be discussed further at the interview stage.

Felxibility is required.

A rota will be produced to cover appointments.

About the candidate

The suitable candidate must: -

• Be motivated, proactive and able to work on their own initiative.
• Be patient, caring and understanding.
• Be able to drive a mobility car - a valid driving licence will be essential. Insurance is covered with the vehicle.
• Have good communication skills (clear and effective communication).
• Be able to build a positive relationship with the individual to both encourage and support them.
• Be flexible to accommodate the hours of work where necessary.

DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post - Cost to be met by the local authority.

The Direct Payments Support Service is an in-house service provided by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council. The service promotes independent choice and inclusion, allowing our service users to employ their own care and support as needed. We support many individuals with varying abilities, assisting with advertising and recruitment for a range of roles including support workers, carers and personal assistants.

Travel

Some travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required, applicants must be able to transport themselves.
