Direct Payment Worker - Hessle

This is an external vacancy and is not employment with East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

The individual is an autistic male with ADHD, in his 30's and resides in Hessle. He requires a dedicated worker to support and encourage him. He is looking for a Personal Assistant that help him to access and engage in the community.

He likes are music, going to football matches and going to pub quizzes.

About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for: -

• Assisting the individual with accessing activities and spending time out in the community.
• Attending/transporting the individual to social activities and appointments.
• Encouraging social interaction and inclusion and providing emotional support.
• Light domestic support.

Hours

10 hours per week. Days and times are to be confirmed, some weekend and some weekdays will be required.

Flexibility is required.

About the candidate

The suitable candidate must: -

• Be motivated, proactive and able to work on their own initiative.
• Be patient, caring and understanding.
• Have good communication skills (clear and effective communication).
• Be able to build a positive relationship with the individual to both encourage and support them.
• Be flexible to accommodate the hours of work where necessary.
• Have working experience or knowledge of autism and ADHD.

A car driver would be preferred. Business insurance is required & mileage is to be paid separately.

DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post - Cost to be met by the local authority.

The Direct Payments Support Service is an in-house service provided by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council. The service promotes independent choice and inclusion, allowing our service users to employ their own care and support as needed. We support many individuals with varying abilities, assisting with advertising and recruitment for a range of roles including support workers, carers and personal assistants.

Travel

Some travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required, applicants must be able to transport themselves.
