Job Description
Job Details: Digital Children, Young People and Families Workerr

Waythrough launched in October 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship. Our vision is to break down the barriers that stop people getting the support they need to live a life they value. We tackle poverty and disadvantage in communities, through mental health, drug and alcohol, housing and related support.

We have almost 200 services around England - and nearly 3,500 amazing staff and volunteers who run them. Every year our services support around 125,000 people.

Bringing together two big organisations is not a small task and it'll take a while to fully integrate our systems, processes and approaches. That's why you will notice the jobs here are still branded 'Humankind'. Next year we'll be fully integrating our recruitment systems but for now they are separate.

Children, Young People, and Families Practitioner
Full-Time, Permanent - Monday to Friday
Location: Catford-based, with travel across Lewisham Outreach Role

Join Insight Lewisham, part of the Waythrough group and one of the top YP services in London, as a Children, Young People, and Families Practitioner and be at the forefront of delivering meaningful, trauma-informed support to young people affected by substance misuse.

About the Role
As part of a passionate, community-based team, you'll be out and about across Lewisham-working face-to-face with young people, families, and professionals in schools, family hubs, supported housing, and community spaces.

  • 1:1 psychosocial sessions with young people and/or their parents/carers
  • Group work, assemblies, and creative outreach in schools and colleges
  • Leading or co-delivering workshops, webinars, and awareness events
  • Supporting young people to improve their mental health, physical wellbeing, and resilience

As part of your role, you'll help shape and manage our digital engagement across Instagram and TikTok. This includes:

  • Creating and co-producing engaging, age-appropriate content-from service updates to myth-busting reels, psychoeducational stories, Q&As, and harm reduction tips
  • Collaborating with young people to ensure our digital voice reflects their real-life concerns and culture
  • Translating evidence-based insights on substances, mental health, and wellbeing into shareable, accessible posts that reduce stigma and increase help-seeking

What You'll Do

  • Manage a small (15-20) caseload of young people and/or families, providing tailored, trauma-informed support
  • Deliver assemblies, workshops, and professional training on substance misuse and related risks
  • Promote the service through co-produced social media content, webinars, and community events
  • Develop strong links with schools, colleges, housing services, and safeguarding partners
  • Facilitate groups focused on substance use, wellbeing, identity, and resilience
  • Keep clear, timely, and confidential records using our digital case management system
