Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team, responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a variety of diesel-powered equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, electrical experience, and proficiency with hand and power tools. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on heavy machinery such as excavators and forklifts, ensuring optimal operational performance and safety standards. The position involves hands-on work requiring heavy lifting and precision craftsmanship to uphold the high standards of our fleet and equipment.
Responsibilities
Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines and related equipment
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using schematics and diagnostic tools
Perform fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly tasks as needed for repairs or modifications
Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to complete repair tasks efficiently
Repair and maintain heavy machinery including excavators, forklifts, and other industrial equipment
Read and interpret technical schematics to troubleshoot complex systems
Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and company policies
Assist with equipment upgrades or modifications to improve performance or safety standards
Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts used
Experience
Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or in a similar role within heavy machinery maintenance
Strong background in fabrication, welding, soldering, electrical systems, and schematics interpretation
Mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and industrial equipment
Experience working with excavators, forklifts, or similar heavy machinery is highly desirable
Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment for repair purposes
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in a demanding environment
Excellent customer service skills when liaising with clients or internal teams regarding repairs or maintenance needs
