Job Description

DevOps Engineer

  • Hybrid Working - Occasional Site Visits
  • Permanent | £55,000 - £70,000 per annum

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to design, build, and evolve cloud infrastructure, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security across critical systems. You will be working in a hybrid model, with flexibility to work from home or an office location (multiple locations across the country), alongside occasional visits to client sites.

Security Requirements

Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be eligible for high-level security clearance. This requires British citizenship and permanent UK residency for the past 5 years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure
  • Deploy, scale, and manage Kubernetes clusters (including Docker and Helm)
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
  • Create and manage automated tools and processes for building, deploying, monitoring, and maintaining infrastructure and applications
  • Implement policies for security, compliance, and disaster recovery
  • Optimise infrastructure for high availability, fault tolerance, and cost efficiency
  • Monitor and improve infrastructure and application performance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across environments
  • Mentor and support junior engineers

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience with AWS services
  • Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
  • Proficiency with containers and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker, Helm)
  • Experience with automation and configuration management
  • Observability expertise using tools such as CloudWatch, ELK, Grafana
  • Basic programming in at least one language (eg, Python, Go, Java, etc.)
  • Experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines
