Compensation: £55,000 - £65,000 / year

About the role: We're looking for a talented and experienced DevOps Engineer to join our engineering team in Leeds. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a cloud-native environment and is passionate about automation, scalability, and reliability.
You'll play a key role in shaping and maintaining our Azure-based infrastructure, supporting development teams, and driving DevOps best practices across the business. You'll also have the opportunity to mentor team members and influence platform strategy as we grow.

Getting Started
  • Get to know our tech stack, teams, and platform architecture
    Set up your local environment and gain access to key systems
  • Shadow engineers to understand current workflows and deployments
Establishing Your Impact
  • Take ownership of key pieces of infrastructure in Azure
  • Begin contributing to CI/CD improvements and IaC refinement
  • Partner with developers to resolve bottlenecks in the delivery pipeline
Driving Excellence
  • Lead improvements in platform reliability, cost optimisation, and observability
  • Establish DevOps standards, documentation, and training for others
  • Be a core contributor to platform and infrastructure roadmap planning
Key Goals & Objectives:
  • Ensure infrastructure is secure, scalable, and cost-efficient in Azure
  • Improve system reliability through automation, observability, and alerting
  • Increase engineering velocity by optimising CI/CD pipelines
  • Enable and mentor engineers across the org on DevOps best practices

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain Azure infrastructure using IaC tools
  • Build and refine CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
  • Troubleshoot production systems with Elastic Cloud tooling
  • Collaborate with developers to streamline infrastructure and release processes
  • Implement security, compliance, and performance best practices
  • Drive containerisation strategy using Azure Container Apps
  • Contribute to planning and technical strategy around scalability and reliability

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • 3-6+ years in DevOps, Site Reliability, or Cloud Engineering roles
  • Deep hands-on experience with Azure (Container Apps, Service Bus, Blob Storage, App Gateway, Redis, SQL Server)
  • Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Bash) and automation tools
  • CI/CD experience (ideally with GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps)
  • Experience with IaC using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates
  • Understanding of cloud networking, security, and identity
  • Proficiency in using Elastic Cloud (Elasticsearch, Kibana) for monitoring
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Desirable (Nice to Have):
  • GitOps experience with Flux or ArgoCD
  • Experience with Kubernetes or Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
  • FinOps or cloud cost management practices
  • Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-400)
