Location: Manchester, Blackpool, Leeds or Newcastle
Overview:
- We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer with strong Microsoft Azure experience to join a technical delivery team supporting cloud-based data platforms and services.
- The successful candidate will have hands-on experience across Azure cloud, infrastructure automation and data engineering technologies, with particular knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics and Azure Data Lake.
- We are looking for someone proactive and delivery-focused who can work effectively across engineering, cloud and data teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain and support cloud infrastructure within Microsoft Azure.
- Develop and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
- Provision and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform.
- Support Azure-based data platforms and associated infrastructure.
- Work with Azure Data Factory to support data integration and pipeline workloads.
- Support solutions using Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Data Lake.
- Automate deployment, configuration and operational processes.
- Troubleshoot issues across cloud infrastructure and data services.
- Work collaboratively with developers, data engineers and other technical stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement across DevOps tooling, processes and engineering practices.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong commercial experience within DevOps / Cloud Engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
- Azure Data Factory (ADF).
- Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Azure Data Lake.
- Terraform / Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- GitLab, including CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience supporting cloud-based data platforms and data pipelines.
- Strong automation and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work proactively with limited supervision.
- Good understanding of modern DevOps and Agile delivery practices.
Desirable Skills
- Databricks.
- Apache Kafka.
- Kafka Connect.
- Broader data engineering and ETL/ELT experience.
- Containerisation and orchestration technologies.
- Previous experience working within large-scale government or enterprise environments.
