Job Description
Overview

Our Cyber team is looking for an experienced Development Underwriter who understands the Lloyd's and London markets and is ready to take ownership of a broker portfolio. You will apply technical underwriting expertise and strong commercial instincts to write new and renewal business while building lasting broker relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Underwrite and assess risk for products and accounts from assigned brokers.
  • Make underwriting decisions within your authority and provide recommendations to regional or product leadership.
  • Consider pricing, retention, endorsements, limits, and indemnity to maximize profitability.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions in line with underwriting requirements and within submission timeframes.
  • Execute product segment strategies to meet budgeted results.
  • Maintain the quality of business per the region's underwriting strategy.
  • Ensure accurate underwriting documentation in account management systems.
  • Engage in training opportunities to further develop underwriting expertise.
  • Develop and nurture broker/client relationships through planning and follow up visits.
  • Execute sales plans in collaboration with regional sales leadership.
  • Identify and capture new business opportunities and cross sell products.
  • Build collaborative relationships with colleagues in other units and regions.
  • Participate in regional and product underwriting or sales meetings.
  • Deliver superior customer service and assist others in achieving underwriting and sales goals.
  • Work tactically with brokers to explain Travelers' goals and objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Degree in a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of industry operations, financial drivers, and local insurance marketplace.
  • Relationship management skills to build and maintain productive alliances.
  • Business perspective: use internal and external factors to make informed decisions.
  • Analytical thinking and financial acumen to evaluate underwriting impact on profitability.
  • Technical proficiency in underwriting to make sound quoting and pricing decisions.
  • ACII qualification.
  • Previous experience underwriting management liability, professional indemnity, or financial institutions.
