Salary: £39,355 to £45,413

Lancaster University is seeking Developers to work on an ambitious, institution-wide projects. This is a fixed term role until 31st July 2026.

These multi-year strategic initiatives are reshaping the design, delivery, and management of undergraduate and postgraduate education to ensure a distinctive, inclusive, and future-ready offering. The successful candidates will support the development and delivery of a complex, high-impact digital and systems change in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

You will bring a proven track record of developing and supporting software systems, with the ability to adapt quickly, manage competing priorities, and work collaboratively in a software development environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of education at Lancaster University through the delivery of innovative, user-focused IT solutions.

The primary focus of the role is to develop and support functionality within the CMS/CTP projects which may include the core student record system used by staff and students across the University. The roles report to our Senior Developers.

These roles offer the opportunity to learn and develop while contributing impactful change to a key University service.

The successful candidates will bring skills & experience across a broad technology base and must include:

C# .NET/.NET Core including WinForms, Webforms and API development.

Angular/Typescript

SQL Server development and optimisation

Development of high availability, high throughput, business critical systems as part of a software engineer team following agile best practice

Modern DevOps practices including CI/CD, containerisation

Complex system integrations with internal/external systems and data sources

Collaborative working within a large (10+) development team

Coaching and mentoring other team members

The role is primarily based on the Lancaster University Bailrigg campus, with flexible hybrid working options to support a positive work-life balance. We would expect a minimum of 2 days a week in the office.
