Job Description
Designate Store Manager - Ipswich Area Summary

We're looking for a Store Manager to lead the full operation of one of our stores, setting the pace in a fast-changing retail environment. You'll deliver against the retail plan, inspire high-performing teams, and create a store where customers love to shop and colleagues are proud to work. This is a role for resilient, commercial leaders who bring clarity, accountability, and ambition to every part of the operation - from standards and service to profit and people.

Due to high interest, this role may close earlier than advertised. We recommend applying as soon as possible.

What you'll do
  • Lead the delivery of the retail plan across the store, driving commercial, operational, and people performance.
  • Set the strategy and direction for the store, ensuring clarity and accountability at every level.
  • Own the change agenda, landing transformation initiatives with pace and impact.
  • Build a high-performance culture through coaching, talent development, and engagement.
  • Use data and insight to make confident decisions that drive profit, improve service, and boost efficiency.
Who you are
  • Proven experience leading large teams in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to deliver across all areas of store performance.
  • Clear, direct communicator with the courage to make tough decisions and bring colleagues with you.
  • Skilled in planning, performance management, and resilience under pressure.
  • Confident using digital tools and data to make decisions and coach others to do the same.
What's in it for you?

Working at M&S means being part of something bigger - helping to deliver quality, value and service to millions of customers every day. We're inclusive, fast-moving and always evolving, with a strong sense of purpose and a focus on doing the right thing.

Here are just a few of the benefits that make working here even more rewarding:

  • 20% colleague discount on all M&S products and many third-party brands for you and someone in your household, available once you've completed your probation
  • Competitive holiday allowance with the option to buy more
  • Strong pension and life assurance to help plan for the future
  • Tailored induction and training to support your development from day one
  • Exclusive perks and savings through our M&S Choices portal
  • Market leading family policies, including parental, adoption and neonatal leave
  • 24/7 wellbeing support, including virtual GP access and mental health services
  • One paid volunteer day a year to support a cause that matters to you
