Job Description

Your new company
Our client is a forward thinking bespoke joinery manufacturer producing high quality furniture and interior products for commercial, hospitality and residential projects. With a strong reputation for craftsmanship and custom solutions, this specialist organisation is now seeking a Design Technician to join their expanding team at their Lisburn office. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to high end, design led projects within a collaborative and innovative environment.

Your new role
As Design Technician, you will work closely with project teams to develop bespoke free standing and fitted furniture designs, translating client requirements into accurate, buildable solutions. You will produce detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings using design software, ensuring all documentation is prepared to the highest standard for manufacture. You will also prepare production information, including bills of materials and cutting lists, and liaise directly with workshop teams to ensure all manufacturing specifications are clearly communicated. The role involves regular interaction with clients, architects and external partners to ensure design intent is understood and maintained, alongside supporting smooth project progression.

You will be responsible for maintaining precision and consistency across all design outputs, applying an in depth technical understanding of joinery, cabinetry and furniture construction. You will engage actively in project discussions, communicate progress clearly, and raise any issues early to support project efficiency. A willingness to learn new design and CAD/CAM systems, including modern packages such as TopSolid Wood, will be important. Experience of working within high end bespoke joinery and a practical understanding of workshop processes will be highly beneficial.

What you'll need to succeed
You will bring strong proficiency in CAD or 3D modelling software, with the ability to produce accurate technical drawings suitable for manufacturing. You will demonstrate passion for furniture and joinery design and have at least three years' experience working within bespoke joinery or furniture environments. You will be self motivated, able to manage your own workload and time effectively, and capable of interpreting client needs and turning them into practical design solutions. Excellent communication skills and a high level of detail orientation will be essential, and experience of metalwork, workshop practices or a degree in Furniture or Product Design would be an advantage.

What you'll get in return
You will join a respected and growing joinery specialist offering the chance to work on premium, design focused projects from concept through to manufacture. The role offers structured working hours from Monday to Friday, a company health plan, a company pension and long service rewards, all within a supportive team environment that values craftsmanship, precision and innovation.
