Deputy Head teacher required from September 2026
Group 1 school. ISR: L1-L5 £51,773 to £57,137

We have a vacancy for a full-time permanent Nursery School deputy head from September 2026.

We are a researching school with a creative, ecological curriculum that promotes collaboration and active participation from everyone in the school community.

Our aims for the school are to create a vibrant, friendly school community for all, that engenders delight and enthusiasm in learning. A community that is creating confident, pro environmental members of society through outstanding early education and care within a culture that places well being and safeguarding at its centre.

Our approach to teaching and learning is inspired by the preschools of Reggio Emilia. At Madeley Nursery School children learn in groups and research the world through environmentally focused projects. We are part of local, national, and international networks of settings and higher education institutions with whom we work to develop our practice.

Learning is primarily developed through research projects focused on the local environment, that evolve from children's interests and observations by the staff.

There is a strong focus on partnership with parents and families as well as community groups. With a fundamental belief in active participation, equity, and inclusion, we want all children to become good citizens and achieve their best, continuing their journey into school and beyond with a love of learning and excellent dispositions and attitudes.

We are seeking an excellent teacher with good leadership, management and communication skills to join our dedicated and highly motivated team, who will work with us as we constantly aspire to develop further our friendly and unique school. In this role you will be required to take the role of school Special Educational Needs Co ordinator and health and safety manager.

Responsibilities
  • Will work closely with the Headteacher to lead and inspire staff, children and families alike, ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning
  • Has proven leadership experience in a primary or maintained nursery school setting
  • Is an excellent classroom practitioner with proven ability to develop excellent and consistent practice in others
  • Is an excellent communicator with experience of working with a range of different audiences both in school and in the wider community
  • Is passionate about inclusion and raising achievement for all pupils
  • Is committed to facilitating the role of SENDCo in all its aspects to a high standard
  • Has a strong understanding of curriculum design and effective teaching and learning strategies
  • Has a strategic mindset, is able to manage change and drive improvements with energy and optimism
  • Is willing to develop their pedagogical understanding and experience of the Reggio Emilia approach through research practice
  • Has personal skills that inspire, motivate and challenge adults and children to reflect, improve and succeed
  • Has the ability to lead by example, working collaboratively and positively with the whole school community
  • Is committed to the belief that all children are competent and confident learners with huge potential to succeed
