Job Description

To support the Data Centre Manager in the leadership and operation of the data centre campus, taking responsibility for the day-to-day operational management of the site. The role will coordinate operational teams, maintenance activities, change control, incident response and reporting, while ensuring the facility operates safely, efficiently and in accordance with agreed operational standards.

The successful candidate will act as Deputy Site Lead, assuming responsibility for the campus in the Site Lead's absence and providing strong operational leadership across facilities, engineering, IT and third-party service providers.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Support the Data Centre Manager with the day-to-day operation and management of the data centre campus.
  • Deputise for the Site Lead during periods of absence, providing clear operational leadership and decision-making.
  • Coordinate operational shifts, ensuring appropriate staffing, coverage and handovers across the site.
  • Manage and coordinate planned and reactive maintenance activities across critical infrastructure.
  • Coordinate change control activities, ensuring changes are properly assessed, approved, communicated and implemented.
  • Own and maintain the DCIM (Data Centre Infrastructure Management) platform, ensuring accurate and timely operational data.
  • Produce regular operational, performance and management reports covering availability, incidents, maintenance, energy, capacity and key operational metrics.
  • Lead the initial response and coordination of operational incidents and escalations.
  • Ensure incidents are appropriately recorded, managed and escalated, with root-cause analysis and corrective actions completed where required.
  • Coordinate with M&E engineering, facilities, IT, network and security teams to maintain reliable site operations.
  • Manage relationships with contractors, suppliers and service providers supporting day-to-day site operations.
  • Ensure planned works and contractor activities are appropriately coordinated to minimise operational risk.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of site SOPs, MOPs and EOPs.
  • Ensure operational activities are carried out in accordance with health & safety, security, compliance and environmental requirements.
  • Monitor site capacity, infrastructure availability and operational performance, escalating emerging risks to the Site Lead.
  • Support audits, inspections, customer visits and technical due diligence activities.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours/on-call rota as required by the operational needs of the facility.
  • Promote a strong culture of operational discipline, safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
