Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, you will have full responsibility for depot performance, overseeing Hire & Sales, Service, Logistics, and Warehouse teams. This is a hands on leadership role with real autonomy and influence. You will be responsible for the day to day running of the depot, ensuring high standards of customer service, operational efficiency, and team performance.

  • Ensure customer enquiries are handled promptly and professionally (counter, phone, and email)
  • Oversee customer contracts and ensure systems are accurate and up to date
  • Ensure depot procedures, policies, and systems are followed consistently
  • Drive strong communication between sales, logistics, accounts, and procurement teams
  • Ensure efficient driver routing and daily planning
  • Maintain company vans and fleet standards
  • Ensure staff are trained, compliant, and professionally presented
  • Lead, motivate, and manage depot teams day to day
  • Manage holidays, uniforms, and staffing levels
  • Ensure the depot is fully operational during business hours
  • Take a hands on approach when required to support customers and business objectives
  • Produce reports in line with company requirements

Experience and Qualifications
  • Proven leadership or depot/branch management experience
  • Strong decision making and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication and people management ability
  • Good IT and system literacy
  • Solid industry knowledge (hire, plant, tools, or similar sectors preferred)
  • Strong numeracy and organisational skills
  • Flexible, proactive, and hands on work ethic

  • Lead by example in promoting safe working practices and behaviours.
  • Ensure health and safety is treated as a core operational priority within the depot.
  • Communicate safety expectations clearly to all staff, contractors, and visitors.
  • Encourage reporting of hazards, near misses, unsafe acts, and incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and company procedures.
