About The Role As Delivery Manager for the Sunderland Smart City project, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of innovative mobile and digital infrastructure across the city. Acting as the key interface between Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), Sunderland City Council, technology partners, internal teams, and delivery partners, you will oversee planning, design, mobilisation, live operations, and decommissioning of smart city connectivity solutions. Your focus will be on delivering high-capacity, multi-operator coverage and digital services on time, within budget, and to the highest technical and safety standards. You will be pivotal in transforming Sunderland into a connected, future-ready city. What You'll Be Doing Project Coordination & Management Serve as the primary liaison between MNOs, Sunderland City Council, and site management teams. Coordinate site access, design and build schedules, logistics, approvals, and efficient decommissioning of smart city deployments. Work closely with deployment partners, technical leads, and the council to ensure seamless integration of all infrastructure. Deliver projects to strict deadlines with zero tolerance for overruns. Programme & Risk Management Create and maintain detailed RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) logs for all deployments, escalating critical issues promptly. Support overall programme management by adhering to deadlines, managing risks, and identifying opportunities for schedule improvements. Track milestones, manage critical paths, and maintain transparent reporting. Quality Assurance & Compliance Oversee rigorous QA processes, including checks on equipment functionality, power reliability, fibre/backhaul integration, and system readiness. Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, CDM requirements, and RF exposure standards. Conduct final readiness checks and facilitate necessary approvals before go-live. Stakeholder & Communication Management Proactively manage communications with MNOs, council stakeholders, technology partners, internal teams, and contractors. Clearly articulate project status, risks, and resolution strategies to ensure alignment of delivery expectations. Coordinate power and fibre provisioning with local authorities and site operators. Manage contractors and delivery partners across all phases. What You'll Bring Ability to inspire others about the vision and priorities of Sunderland Smart City. Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to engage at all levels and drive shared goals. Proven Delivery Management experience within telecoms/technology sector Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and structural aspects of connectivity infrastructure Excellent at building and maintaining an excellent working relationship with technology and commercial teams Risk management Accurately and clearly recording all delivery information within the relevant systems for successful handovers Manage all delivery costs to the agreed cost model/budget showing all variances.
